Pelican Island Birding Adventure

Saturday, April 18, 2026 @ 7:30 am - 11:00 am
$60

Bus Tour On-site restroom not available

Join us for a trip to one of the largest migrant traps on the East end of Galveston Island. The Texas A&M Wetlands Center hosts mature oaks, hackberry, and mulberry trees as well as small freshwater and retention ponds. This attracts dozens of neo-tropic migrants including warblers, buntings, tanagers, and orioles. The well-kept paths of the Wetlands Center proceed from the west tip of the island inland to the eastern edge of university housing. This path provides excellent views of birds on East Bay and harbors a small heron Rookery as well. During migration this can be one of the best places to see migrants. If time permits, we will also visit another well-known migrant trap, Corp Woods.

Bring: water, snacks, sunscreen, and insect repellent. Wear closed-toed walking shoes.
